debian planet . org

The story so far

The machine hosting Debian Planet (and personal mail & and hosting
for myself and others) disappeared on 17th of January. The hosting
provider was immediate contacted however communication with them has been
slow. Since it was hoped that the service would be restored quickly
alternative arrangements for hosting of the DNS were not made. When the
hosting did not reappear by the weekend of the 4th of February it was
decided to migrate the DNS elsewhere and put up this explanatory message.

The future

The majority of the value in Debian Planet is in the historical database
subsequently a normal service will not be able to be resumed until the
data from that machine is recovered. It is hoped that this will be within
the next few weeks.
